Recoleta Cemetery - Photography Project

Recoleta Cemetery was inaugurated in 1822 and it was last remodeled by the architect Juan Antonio Buschiazzo in 1880 –so many years ago.

It was declared National Historical Museum in 1946 –due to some notable people who rest there, its sculptures and its architectonic design. Moreover, some of its tombs are considered as National Historical Monuments and the Argentine Government maintains them. However. many other tombs and vaults are in a state of disrepair (some worst than others).

That was the first reason why I wanted to do this proyect: to show how part of our history is falling apart. I'm planning to make of this a more extensive job. This is just a first documentary essay.
